Attention Postcard Collectors! Our second edition of Troy postcards is now available at the store. Photographer Tom Killips has taken seven wonderful new shots of Troy attractions, including the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, Troy Music Hall, Washington Park, Oakwood Cemetery, fireworks over River Street, and the Rice Building.
Come see them. Postcards are 50 cents each and we now have a collection of 15. Click here for all of the new images.
In collaboration with Tom Killips, noted Troy photographer, we have published our first series of Troy postcards. The postcards show some of the architectural, educational and iconic highlights of Troy, including scenes from Russell Sage, Emma Willard, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Burden Ironworks Museum, view of downtown and the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall from Prospect Park, fireboat display on the Hudson in front of the Green Island Bridge and the former Cluett & Peabody building, Riverfront Park, filming of the Age of Innocence at River and First, and the famous Uncle Sam statue.
“Customers, particularly visitors to Troy, often ask us for postcards,” said Pfeil Hardware & Paint co-owner, Deane Pfeil, “so we decided to produce some high quality, full color cards that feature Troy in all its beauty. Fortunately, photographer Tom Killips has a great library of photographs and is always on the lookout for new, interesting shots. We’ve started with nine scenes and plan to add more.”
The postcards, which sell for 50 cents each, are available exclusively at Pfeil Hardware & Paint.
Convenient composting! To help you enrich your soil and recyle in one of the best ways, we’ve re-stocked our supply of countertop composters along with the filters and compost keeper bags to fit.
We have four different models ranging in price from $24.99 for the ceramic pail to $49.99 for one of the stainless steel designs, with two in between.
Note that we brought a very handsome stainless steel composter for $39.99 that has a slimmer profile – oblong rather than round (it’s the one on the far left of the photo). And, we carry an environmentally friendly, ultimately bio-degradable bamboo version for $25.99.
And don’t forget that you don’t have to have your own composter in the back yard. You can take your countertop-collected compost to the Composting Collection booth at the Troy Farmer’s Market!
Steve, our manager, just finished resetting the entire light bulb department. We worked with the GE Lighting folks to determine current customer needs for light bulbs and found some niches to fill. We ended up expanding our light bulb assortment to a whopping 325 different styles!
Because some of you have asked for them, we’ve brought in a whole section of welding supplies. The selection includes electrodes, tips, strikers, flints, helmets, mig wire chipping hammers, gloves & more. If the demand is there for an even broader array of welding products, we will continue to expand this new section. Please let us know what you think!
